What should I expect my first visit?

What should I wear? - Wear whatever you're comfortable in. It's a little tough to sit in jeans or dress clothes, so sweats or athletic wear is just fine.

What do I need to know ahead of time? - We have a very simple service which is in a booklet, so you don't need to have any knowledge of Buddhism beforehand.

What if I have questions? - Sensei Glenn, Deshi DeDe, Novice Joe, or another experienced practitioner remain after practice for questions & conversation. Always feel free to ask any questions you have.

When should I arrive? - Practice begins promptly at 9:30 am Sundays and 7:30 pm Wednesdays. We suggest arriving a few minutes early to say hello and get settled. Doors open 30 minutes before practice starts.

What does the practice/service include?

We have a practice guide/booklet that we follow, so you can't get lost.

You may join in bowing, reading, or participating in the discussion, but it's not required.

We begin with 15-20 minutes of silent meditation.

We speak the names of those who need physical or emotional healing.

We read the Heart Sutra

The teacher will have a short reading.

15 minute break for refreshments and conversation.

Dharma talk 5-15 minutes

Discussion - The livelihood of our sangha is the dharma talk discussion.

Everyone is invited to participate if you have a thought, a question,

or a story.

We end with the Bodhisattva Vow.

Practice is about 75 minutes total, depending on the discussion.

New members and visitors are always welcome!
